Bashidrum, the Drum Practice Planner, is run by Bashidrum (Ben Bashi), a drum teacher. This notice says what the app keeps about students and what happens to it.
Listen mode uses the microphone only while it is listening to a run, on your device; no sound is recorded or sent anywhere.
In Settings (the gear at the top), a student can add any of these. Every one is optional, and the app works the same without them:
Only the student and Ben can see these. They never appear on the Leaderboard or to other students.
The recovery email is used only for sign-in help: if you tap Forgot password? or Forgot username? on the sign-in screen, a link to choose a new password, or your username, is sent to it. It is never used for anything else, such as news or marketing. Ben can add or correct the recovery email for a student; the other details are the student's to change.
Settings also has Suggest or report, for sending Ben an idea or telling him something is broken. Ben reads every one. With each message the app adds the tab you were on, the app version and the time, so he can find the problem. Other students cannot see what you send.
Nothing else is kept. No address, no phone number, no photos.
You can take yourself off the Leaderboard at any time with the switch on the Leaderboard tab. Then other students see nothing of yours.
The records are held by Supabase, the database service Bashidrum runs on, in a data centre in the UK or EU. Supabase stores the data for us and does not use it for anything else. The app itself is hosted by Netlify. A copy of your own record (and the last Leaderboard) is also kept on your device so the app works offline; signing out removes it.
No advertising, no analytics, no tracking, and nothing is sold or shared with anyone else.
To remove any of the optional details, open Settings, About you, clear the fields and tap Save; they are gone straight away. For anything else, including suggestions you have sent, email Ben (the address you use to arrange lessons) and say what you would like corrected or deleted, and he will delete it. When a student leaves, their sign-in, practice record, details and suggestions are all deleted. You can also ask for a copy of everything held about you.
